Hair care tips: How to make dandruff remedy

Friday, February 5th, 2010

If you have dandruff, do not worry about being alone with your problem. Dandruff is a common hair problem. How to shake dandruff flakes away? You can make dandruff remedy:

Take equal proportions of fenugreek seeds and yellow lentils, add a teaspoon of cumin seeds and water to completely soak it for few hours. After that grind this mix to a paste. Apply the paste on to your head, massage it through the scalp, leave it for an hour and just wash your hair. You don’t need shampoo, yellow lentils are a natural mild shampoo. If your hair is oily, you may want to go for a very mild/baby shampoo.

After about 30 mins, you will feel that the paste is drying on your head. Once it dries, the dandruff sticks to it and will get washed off. The paste is mild enough to pull only the loose and dead skin cells. Once you wash your hair and dry it, you will feel that your scalp is more fresher and within 6 weeks you would never see any hair loss or dandruff!

Repeat this process once every 3 days (if you sweat more, repeat it every 2 days) To make things even better, increase your water intake to at least 3 to 4 liters a day and/or swallow 1 teaspoon of fenugreek soaked in water overnight every morning!

Long Nails More Likely to Carry Pathogens

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

A number of women like keeping long nails. They considered long nails sexy, but there is caution. According to a study done by Shelly McNeil, M.D., an infectious-disease specialist at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, nails longer than three centimeters (just a bit over one inch) are five times more likely than trimmed nails to carry the pesky pathogens that cause staph and yeast infections.

To be on the safe side, Dr. McNeil warns that you need to be diligent about washing your hands (especially after contact with such germ-prone items as doorknobs, public toilets and gym equipment). You also might want to carry an alcohol-based hand gel that can be used to disinfect your hands when soap and water aren’t available.

Lip Plumper Tips: How to Have Fuller and Sexier Lips

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

There are cheap and practical ways of getting beautiful full lips. Here are four easy steps:

Step one: Lip balm babe

Prepare your delicate lips with a generous slick of lip balm in advance. Nobody likes cracked and frayed lips! And in this cold winter weather its important to take more care than usual. (Cold weather will dry the moisture from your lips). Make sure that the lip balm has sunk a little before you go on to step two, otherwise your lip liner won?t work.

Step two: Line and define

Get a natural lip liner, and carefully draw around the very rim of your lips. If you get a wobbly line, don?t panic (and don?t think nobody will notice it)… just carefully remove it and start again! When you have a firm line fill in the rest of your lips with the same color.

Step three: Now add some shine!

Here comes the glamorous bit, the lip-gloss! Again, keep the color natural. Forget lipstick that?s too dark or too light. One thing you?ve gotta remember though, gloss looks better but doesn?t have the staying power of lippy. Make sure you keep it in your purse and re-apply during the day.

Step four: Plump them up

This is the ?hard bit?. But actually it?s not! All you?ve got to do, (after you?ve completed steps one through three), is dot a white shimmery product like eye shadow or an eyebrow highlighter in the very center of your lips. Start slowly, and blend very carefully. What you are looking to achieve is natural looking shading, with your lip color being lighter where your mouth opens. This will create the illusion of beautiful full lips.

Oh, one last thing. Remember, people always want what they haven?t got, so don?t fret… just make the best of what you?ve got. And you know what they say; if you?ve got it, flaunt it!

Skin foundation tips: how to choose and apply the right foundation

Monday, February 1st, 2010

It is important that the foundation you choose to use is the best for your skin. Here are a few tips and tricks on choosing and applying the right kind of foundation for your skin.

You should always go for the natural look whenever you are applying your makeup, so your foundation should match the tone of your skin. How do you know if the color of your foundation matches your skin tone? You do this by putting some along your jawline. A foundation has the perfect color for you if it blends well with your skin, so much that it practically seems that you are not wearing any foundation at all. If the color of your skin changes, go ahead and change the color of your foundation. Also, to know for certain if you are picking the right color of foundation for your skin, always test the foundation under natural light.

When applying foundation, just pat the stuff down on your face and then spread it out smoothly with a sponge. Cover your face entirely with foundation, including your eyelids and your lips. Take care not to pull at the skin, especially at the thin skin around the eyes.

If the skin is dry, it will only absorb the foundation soon after it was applied. Therefore, make the foundation last longer by applying moisturizer first beforehand. If your face is oily, make sure that your moisturizer is oil-free; also opt for a powder foundation if you have oily skin. Another thing you can do to make the foundation last longer is to set it with loose powder whose color matches the color of the foundation.

If you have blemishes that you wish to hide, like pimples or dark spots, smooth a concealer on the blemishes first before putting the foundation on – five-minute makeover. Avoid putting too much powder or color on these areas where the blemishes are in order not to attract the eyes upon them.

Makeup in the evening is always brighter and more special – perfect party makeup. For added glamour, blend shimmer powder along with your foundation and apply it to areas on your face that you want the light to shine on to emphasize the best features of your face.

Always use products with sunscreen protection. That is a must in order to provide protection for your skin and to keep it from getting damage from ultraviolet exposure.

9 Steps to Correctly Tweeze Your Eyebrows

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

If you think eyebrows can be tweezed casually, you are wrong. Getting beautiful brows, you have to use correct ways.

Which Tweezer?

Thin Tip: Good for grasping small, fine hairs, and plucking ingrown hair.
Slanted Tip: Gives maximum control.
Square Tip: Best used for removing coarse hairs or several hairs at a time.

1. Tweeze immediately after showering or apply a hot washcloth to loosen hair follicles.

2.Hold a pencil vertically along the side of the nose. Eyebrow should start at outside edge if pencil – Anastasia Soare eyebrow queen.
Hint: Leaving a bit more space will widen close-set eyes.

3.Hold pencil to outside of eye. This is where the eyebrow of a bombshell should end.

4.Smooth brows with a little moisturizer to help hairs slide out – turn back the clock.

5.Brush brows up to find a natural arch.

6. Draw in the desired shape beforehand with a soft eye shadow pencil – Keira Knightley smokey eyes.
Hint: Don’t use an eyeliner pencil. It will cause you to pluck too much.

7.Tweeze under the brow first, plucking in the direction of the growth.
Hint: If your plucking becomes too painful, apply a little anbesol (yes, that pain reliever for teeth also numbs the brows)

8.Using an eyelash comb, comb brows upwards and trim any hairs that extend beyond the natural top or brow bone. Glamorous lashes.

9.After tweezing, soothe the area with cool, wet tea bags.
